Yesterday we had a yard sale fundraiser. It was AMAZING. It allowed us to take one more step toward the financial means to bring our girls home. While that is a huge blessing, there was another reason I feel so incredibly blessed and grateful today.
We have been collecting items for our yard sale for a month or so. We asked anyone, everyone, to donate items they would otherwise be getting rid of and so many people came through for us. So many people, some we know very well, others who are aquaintances, and even a few strangers sent items our way which enabled such a successful day. Friends and family came out to help, some spending hours setting up (at daybreak I might add), and then helping thoughout the day. Others brought snacks and drinks and sold waters and lemonade to help make the day a success. Still others stopped by through the day just to offer support, give hugs, and show their love for our family.
I know this journey started with our adoption, but something every day seems to be showing me, is that this journey is about so much more. It's about support and working together and love. It's about all the people who do their part to support the orphans through the little acts of kindness and generosity. It's teaching me every day that long after our girls are home, I will still be responsible to be God's hands to help other families do what we are doing now. God's call isn't just about us and our family.
So for all of you who are working as His hands and feet now in our lives, to bring our children into a family, we thank you! We are beyond grateful. Those small, and not so small, things you have done, are doing, to help will forever be etched in our hearts.
As a final thought, we had SO much stuff that even after an incredibly successful yard sale, we still have a LOT of items left. This morning at church I had 3 more people come up to me and say they had items to donate.... so we are gonna do it again. In 3 weeks we will have another yard sale. If you have stuff (and we all seem to have random stuff don't we) that you don't want, PLEASE send it our way. I will gladly pick it up!
We ask you to continue to pray for us. This is a journey, not a sprint. It's easy to get impatient with the wait, but it's easier with others walking with us.
Thank you and God bless!
